SLO 6, ARTIFACT 2: Podcast on Information Literacy Strategies of Incarcerated Women (Introduction) Audio: https://storianblog.wordpress.com/podcast-introduction/ Link to Transcript (Note: Due to human subject research guidelines, I have chosen not to post the entire podcast on a public website. I am instead posting the introduction that includes only my voice and opinions. The names of my research subjects are not mentioned in this introduction.) This introductory podcast segment illustrates how I conveyed my information literacy research in audio format. It provides an overview of the themes addressed during the full podcast. Doing this podcast presented some enjoyable but significant challenges. First, I had to learn how to record and edit audio effectively in Audacity, a recording software with which I had very minimal experience. Second, I had to try to deliver statistical data in an engaging way. Third, I had to determine how best to use music to enhance the spoken words. What inspired me to navigate these challenges was a strong passion for the subject matter and a determination to let the message, not the technology, drive my actions. This project taught me that I could produce an effective podcast on a very limited budget. It has also inspired me to do more podcasts on topics related to social justice. I will use this podcast as a model when thinking about how to advocate in a public media forum on behalf of marginalized communities. |
