SLO3, ARTIFACT 2:
PATH Tutorial (no link available) We were required to take this tutorial for my information literacy class. It is one of the best student tutorials I have seen on conducting and planning research. It supports multiple ACRL Framework principles, including “Research as Inquiry” and “Searching as Strategic Exploration.” The PATH Tutorial is more prescriptive than the ACRL Framework in content. Both contain information that I have found beneficial during my time in the MLIS program. I think this shows the value of merging older and newer concepts when teaching information literacy. I learned most of the key concepts described in the PATH modules prior to starting the MLIS program; however, going through the modules as a library studies student made me think about how I could use PATH as a model for teaching research strategies in a public library tutoring or workshop environment. This screenshot of the tutorial homepage serves as a reminder of the topics I would need to cover. |
